This community was developed with you in mind. Everybody can't afford a gym or a personal trainer. Some people are not even motivated by that, so we created a fitness community with you and your special needs in mind.
What is so special about the community-Real Help For Real People.
We are all different shapes, different sizes, from different cultural backgrounds (that means we eat differently), with different body types and different issues. We understand that and we want to provide the help that comes from helping each other.
How many of us really don't know what needs to be done? The truth is most of us struggle with the motivation necessary to get it done. We need a little encouragement from someone like us who understands our unique challenges and struggles.
With that in mind we have established groups within our community for people with similar challenges, struggles and goals. If you have success in an area, maybe you walked daily for the last 6 months and you have been successful in losing 50 pounds. That makes you a success story and gives you the credentials necessary to be a help to someone else. This is not just a community for the struggling but it is also a community for those that have been successful to share tips and words of encouragement. Yes, we will have certified personal trainers on our team to help encourage and motivate, but who better to help encourage and motivate you than someone who has been where you are. Our motto is Real Help for Real People, but it could just as easily be Real People Helpiing Real People.

Let's Get this Party Started

A year ago, I started on my own challenge. It has been a busy one without much progress being made on my physical body or at least not much that I could see. People keep commenting that I look like I am losing weight but the truth is I have lost inches not weight. I have learned how to just say thank you. Maybe this is the motivation I need to finish the job.
I got on the scale this morning and the truth was the truth. I weighed in at 226.8. No Excuses. I will take the inches, but I would like to lose the weight as well. I think what people are also seeing is an attitude change. My attitude about everything is different, which affects our outward appearance more than we know. I learned from Carroll that we have to work on ourselves from the inside out, not the outside in and it is true. I don't think I was really ready to lose the weight before. We hold on to it for so many reasons. Fear or putting ourselves out there. Fear of being taken advantage of. Just fear. Weight is a good cover story and excuse for why no one is interested in us, when the truth is maybe our attitudes need to change. The weight gives them an excuse to avoid connecting with our bad attitudes.
Well here it is exactly one year later and my job is starting a Slimdown Challenge. I was not even remotely thinking about joining it, but maybe there is some significance to my starting to blog today and it being exactly one year from the date I tried to do this before. I can see the difference in my self esteem, my attitude and I really do know who I am. Maybe the time is now, whether I choose to do it with them or not. Maybe you as a community can give me the additional encouragement I need to win the challenge. The truth is, if I don't win the money from their challenge I am a winner any way because of the weight I will lose. The challenge is not about the money, the challenge is personal.
When I went for my morning walk (3 miles), I began to reflect on what I am doing wrong and what I need to change. Here it is:
- I need to get focused and make this a priority. Just like everything else in my life is coming together this, my physical body needs to come together as well. I told Jennifer one of my accountability partners yesterday, that I have been thinking about setting a goal to gift wrap myself as a Christmas present. The new and physically improved Angela. What do you think of that? It kind of made me a little excited.
- I need to stop eating dinner at 10pm. That means I need to make sure I eat as soon as I get home or before I get home to ensure I do not get caught up working on the websites, counselling or writing and end up eating to close to time for me to go to bed. I want to eat at least 3 hours before I go to bed.
- Increase water intake and increase fruits and vegetables.
- Increase my workout time on the videos, using the video from the site and increase my cardio. Unlike many of you, I do not have a personal trainer, I have a friend who does not even talk to me about my personal working out. You have heard of the silent treatment. That is what I get. That is what you do with people that already know what they need to be doing and are not doing it. Yes, my friend and boss, Mr. Roberts, gives me the silent treatment on this topic.
- Recruit some accountability partners, who will workout with me and hold me accountable-Jennifer you are one. Ultimately, it is up to me to get this weight off, but it helps to have people around you with common goals and who are concerned about seeing you reach yours. This is no time to recruit haters. People who really do not want to see you succeed because they are afraid you might look better than them. You don't need those people.
My challenge starts today!
Well that is enough for now. Are you satisfied Mr. Roberts? Will you stop giving me the silent treatment? The truth is I didn't do it because you put me on blast.
